This is a fabulous ranru, boro.
It is early Meiji period(1868-1912) or earlier, and has wonderful texture as photos show!
It was an
ai dyed solid cotton, but well well worn, and many parts are repaired elaborately, and as a result it becomes like photos.
Textiles are hand woven and hand spun cotton, and it has very soft and comfortable touch. Repaired parts were also done in the early or mid Meiji period(1868-1912), and also hand spun katazome and
kasuri cotton fabrics are used.
This piece is especially valuable and charming piece for its AGE, TEXTILE and DESIGN!
Really UNINTENDED ART!
