This is an exceptionally rare kimono - 'kyokatabira'.
It is made of asa(it seems to be ramie, but it could be hemp - not sure), and sutra is written elaborately all over it.
This kimono was made for the dead person, and was supposed to be buried with him. We don't know why but it was not buried.
Textile is hand plied and hand woven asa, and has medium touch and crispy touch.
It seems to be from around early Meiji period(1868-1912).
We strongly recommend this rare kimono!
