This is a FABULOUS fukusa from early Meiji period(1868-1912) or earlier.
Textile is navy shusu silk, and has cheerful 'kamewari-no-zu' picture is embroidered elaborately with very thin threads. Please check detail photos - you must astonish to see the detail of clothes of boys ( dragon motif!)
It has slight flaws as photos show, but as a whole it is nearly in excellent condition.
We highly recommend this wonderful Meiji fukusa!

*Kamewari---
This motif is a story of first Qin Emperor in his boyhood. A long time ago in China, boys were playing around big and precious vase. One boy dropped in the vase, and they couldn't help him because the vase was too large for them. One boy ( who later became Shi Huangdi ) picked up a large rock, and threw it to the vase. Vase was broken, and water and drown boy flowed out, and he was helped.
