This is a huge maku(curtain) from Edo Period( 1603-1867).
Textile is thick hand spun and woven cotton. It has soft and comfortable touch.
Meotoiwa( pair rocks), sun, crane and tortoise are dyed with tsutsugaki technique. Its auspicious picture is dyed vividly! Please check its wonderful details with more photos.
We can know from the text that it was made in Kaei 6( 1853).
