This is a rare men's juban(undergarment) from around Taisho period(1912-1925).
Its design is very unique - theme is horse race, and it has unique western taste - alphabet can be read among it!
Gourd motif is also connected to horse - Japanese old
We have an expression 'Hyotan kara koma (ga deru)' literally means, "A horse comes out from a gourd"
--It means 'a surprising fact' just like something really unexpected came out from an unusual place.
It has some flaws as photos show, but as a whole it is in very good condition.
*This piece is very similar design as #173277.
