This is a fabulous uchikake - this piece has incredible embroidery work all over it! Pine tree, fan and flowers are embroidered elaborately with very thin threads.
Please check its incredible embroidery details with more photos. (Large fan parts are also fully embroidered with thin thread!!!)
In the lining, wave and pine tree motifs are dyed.
Textile is rinzu, silk with damask effect, and has soft touch.
This piece's embroidery is 'wa-shishu'(Japanese embroidery), and it is different from contemporary Chinese one. It has some slight stains and discoloration, but they are slight and not disturbing. (And seam of the bottom part is coming loose shortly. )
Its condition is very good, and at a glance, it looks very contemporary one, but we think it had to be made around Taisho period(1912-1925). Or it might be made after WWII, with very best of Japanese embroidery technique. Even so, this piece has the best quality among the wearable uchikake now.
For the genuine connoisseur or for museum!
