This is a wonderful black
maru obi from around Taisho period(1912-1925). Mandarin duck and stream pattern is woven elaborately.
Textile is exquisite silk, and has very soft touch.
This piece has irregular shape - approx 1/3 is narrow ( 29cm-11.4 in). It was because the owner was not tall person, and wanted to make narrow the otaiko part(bow part).
In addition, color threads are omitted in approx half length ( its part was not seen when tied).
It has some flaws as photos show, but as a whole it is in very good condition.
*Approx background color - black
Softness ( Exceptionally Soft, □ Soft, Medium, Comparatively Stiff, Stiff )
