This is a wonderful uchishiki, fabric for Buddhist altar. This piece is from Edo Period( 1603-1867), and its 'kikko'(tortoise shell) pattern is made of elaborate patchwork! Textiles are delicate chirimen(crepe Silk), and have various dyed pattern. It is lined with cotton.
9 parts are fully missing( these part were black or dark brown , and textile became weak and missing). It has some other flaws as photos show, but as a whole it is in very good condition.
