This is an incredible fukusa dated around late Edo(1,800s).
Whole front fukusa is covered with fabulous embroidered Takarabune,treasure ship with Shichifukujin,seven gods done by top artisans using their best skills.
The treasure ship is sailing smoothly filled the canvas and ripping along the ship. In the middle of canvas,it has kanji,felicitations below thick rope across and houju,magical ball on top and the front of ship has fantastic dragon head with transparent eyes and one crane is flying freely,turtle is swiming along the ship.The ship is nicely frames in red and inside of it,7 gods are having great time.
Every god is in traditional costumes and carrying own accessories.Dragon on Jurojin's head,sea bass on the plate,hairly body of Hotei,and unbelieavable facial expressions,stunning red chirimen on the back with family crest,oh,my god,,,,ALL ARE JUST MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE!,so please ,please and please enjoy all details on more pictures since we can not tell you enought by words.
Because of age,black threads start to worn out(legs on the cranes),and some embroideries are getting loose and coming apart,and one of the tassele came off, and some smudges,frays and looking at design and size,the left size must have been shorten,but considering its age,this is still in museum quality and condition.
AGAIN,it is close to impossible to find a piece like this,so definitly will be the best piece to add to your collections! Truest me!
