This tapestry seemed to be used at a temple. Center part is made of graceful rinzu silk fabric, which has wonderful woven pattern. Hems are made of cotton, and has exotic 'kotobuki'(longevity) character and chrysanthemum pattern, which is dyed with katazome technique. Cotton has soft and comfortable touch and has well worn natural ai color. It seems to be from around Meiji period(1868-1912). It has some flaws as photos show, but as a whole it is in very good condition. photo:suh |
