This is a vintage katagami, stencile paper for dyeing komon kimono. It s pattern is exceptionally fine, which is hand carved elaborately. It was made in Ise district, and called Ise-katagami.
It is made of washi, Japanese paper, and dyed with kakishibu.
We sometimes come across katagami, but this time we fortunately got fabulous katagami collection - all katagami has unique and very fine patterns, and its condition is excellent! This piece is one of this collection.
It has slight flaws as photos show.
