This is a superb susohiki set from Taisho period(1912-1925) or early Showa period(Showa:1926-1989).Both piece has elegant chrysanthemum motifs, which are colorfully dyed with Yuzen
technique. Outer one(black one) has cute girl motif, who seems to be writing a letter with maple leaf. Please check its wonderful details with more photos.
Bodice of inner one(pink one) has exotic shibori dyed pattern.
Susohiki literally means 'trail the skirt' and it was worn to do the elegant dance with a folding fan in the Japanese style drawing room. Kamon of okiya(geisha house) are added.
Textile is exquisite silk, and has very soft touch.
It has some stains, patinas and discoloration as photos show. However, it is still very charming and RARE piece!
For Mr. Connoisseur!
