This is a wonderful men's juban from pre WWII.
Shouki sama and ogres are dyed vividly!
Textile is exquisite silk, and has very soft touch.
It has some flaws as photos show, but as a whole it is in very good condition.
*Shouki-sama is thought to be guardian angel.
Shouki-sam lived in China in ancient times. He studied hard, and went through the civil servant examinations at top record. But the emperor feared his appearance, and reject him. Shouki-sama killed himself in despair. However afterward when the emperor got ill, he appeared in the emperor's dream, and got rid of hoodman. Shouki-sama said ' I killed myself. But I was burried reverently, so I decided to get rid of any trouble from this country.' Emperor regretted, and ordered a painter to draw Shouki, and enshrined him as a god. So here in Japan, Shouki-sama is enshrined as a god of entrance exam and apotropaism.
