This is a rare men's muso haori from pre WWII. 'Muso' means outside and inside is made of the same fabric, and not cut between outside and inside. This piece is made of brown tsumugi silk. It has very unique design - the Antarctic Continent and running horse motifs are fully embroidered. Does anyone know why these motifs are embroidered together? Please check more photos for the details. It has some stains as photos show, but as a whole it is in very good condition. *Approx background color - brown Softness ( Exceptionally Soft, □ Soft, Medium, Comparatively Stiff, Stiff ) photo:nono
*Here comes information from a customer Ann san! Thank you very much! ----- I believe your Haori may refer to Captain Robert Scott's 1912 expedition to Antarctica and the South Pole. He traveled with horses, but all people and animals died on the return journey. Scott took advice from his horse expert Captain Lawrence Oates and did not equip the animals with snow shoes. This is thought to have been a major contribution to the death of all involved.------
