This is a fabulous 'kiribame'(patchwork) bag from Taisho period(1912-1925) or early Showa period(Showa:1926-1989). Upper and lower parts are made of VARIOUS vintage fabrics and has beautiful patchwork pattern. In the middle part, cute 'karako'(karako is child figure in China) motifs - they are studying with books and mothers. For God's sake, who made this incredible piece for whom? Did a mother make it for her loved daughter?
It has many tears or holes( black parts of karako heads are missing in many parts and so on ). We checked it and took many photos of them. Phots are not all of tears. There are many tears and holes, but we guarantee its beauty in spite of its tears. For the geunine connoisseurs! photo:nakajima |
