This is an exceptionally rare piece, maiwai.
It was worn by a ship owner, when he congratulated his ship's big catch fishes.
This piece is from Taisho peiod(1912-1925) or early Showa period( Showa:1926-1989), and has fabulous picture on it. Crane, tortoise, gull, fan, sake cup and wave motifs are dyed with katazome(stencile) technique colorfully!
Ship name ' Iemitsu Maru' can be read.

Textile is soft cotton ( comparatively thick), and lined with cotton.
It has some flaws as photo show (Please check the detail photos). However, as a whole it is in very good condition.
