This is a uchishiki, fabric for Buddhist altar from pre WWII. It has elegant 'kiku'(chrysanthemum) motif pattern, which is woven elaborately. It is made of silk, lined with cotton.
Its backgournd gold threads have fray at places and the paper inside of the threads appear. There are some other flaws as in the photos but as a whole, it is in very good condition.
