This is an exceptionally RARE fukusa, which seems to be from Meiji period(1868-1912).
Its colorful fine geometric pattern is fully made of PATCHWORK!
When I looked this piece at first, I coudn't believe what I was seeing.
Work of patchwork('kiribame') genius!
Textile is chirimen(crepe) silk.
Black part of shusu silk(out line of fan shape part and tail of crane) are fryed and torn. There also are some small holes. A tassel is missing. However, as a whole it is in very good condition.
