This is a wonderful black fukusa from Meiji period(1868-1912).
It has exotic crane and tortoise motifs, which are elaborately embroidered. Please enjoy its wonderful embroidery details with more photos.
Textile is black shusu silk and lining is made of chirimen(crepe) silk.
Embroidery of tail of tortoise is coming off. There is a slight discolored band in the center part vertically. The other side has several small holes. As a whole it is in very good condition.
