This is a magnificent Geisya's susohiki kimono from pre WWII.
It has appealing fan, flowers and stream motifs, which are dyed with
yuzen technique. Some parts are added fine embroidery. Please check its wonderful detail works with more photos.
It has exceptionally graceful atmosphere!
Susohiki literally means 'trail the skirt' and it was worn to do the elegant dance with a folding fan in the Japanese style drawing room. It has very long length and eye-catching design.
Geisha house's kamon is added.
Textile is exquisite silk, and has very soft touch.
Lining of sleeves are red silk(red lining is the feature of kimono from pre WWII) and synthetic hiyoku seems to be added in the later age.
This is one piece, which recently came to our kimono market from a family in Kyoto. We don't know why such many Geisha's susohiki were owned by a family, but we luckily got most of them.
It has some stains, slight smudges and very slight discoloration. However, as a whole it is in very good condition.
