This is a GRACEFUL kesa, monk's gown.
We can know it is from Ansei 6(1860), because of the characters in the other side.
It is approx from 150 years ago!
Textile is sha, thin transparent silk, and has vivid flowers motifs, which is dyed artistically. Please enjoy its wonderful details with more photos.
It is lined with thin silk.
Fabric is becoming weak, and there are many tears along folding lines( there are more tears than photos show - almost all folding lines are becoming tears -for examples, tears exist also in the middle part and right side although tears are marked only in the left side. ) It also has discoloration and patinas all over it. There also are several small holes. The other side has many stains and smudges. ( Black mark is in the right side, and the red mark is in the wrong side.)
However, this piece is very valuable and charming for its age and wonderful flower picture!
