This is a set of 2 fukusa from pre WWII. One has colorful 'kiku'(chrysanthemum) and Japanese fans with 'kaioke' (a hexagonal container to store clam shells, which are used ancient shell matching game - 'kaiawase' ) motifs, which are beautifully embroidered. Laces on the
kaioke motifs are finely attached. Interesting butterfly motif kamon(family crest) is woven on the other side. Another one has the same butterfly motif kamon on both sides(smaller one is embroidered). Please check more photos for more details.
The textile is both chirimen(fine crepe) silk and has soft comfortable textured touch.
Embroidered one has a few stains and smudge on the motif side. The other side also has smudge and stains at places. Discoloration appears noticeabley. Another one has several stains and smudge, but as a whole, both are in a very good condition.
