This is a fantastic fukusa from Meiji period(1868-1912).
'Kaioke' (a hexagonal container to store clam shells, which are used ancient shell matching game - 'kaiawase' ) motif is dyed boldly. And shells, cherry blossom, chrsanthemum, bamboo, ume blossom, maku and cloud motifs are dyed and embroidered in them! Please enjoy its incredble details with more photos!
Textile is chirimen silk.
The right side has couple of small holes. The other side has slight smudges or discoloration. However, as a whole it is in very good condition.
