This is a rare 'susohiki'. Susohiki lieterally means `trail the skirt' and this particular kimono is much longer than other kimono and the bottom is padded. This is worn to do the elegant dance with a folding fan in the Japanese style drawing room. This piece is considered to be from mid Showa peirod (1926-1989) and has dramatic sail ship and wave motifs, which is dyed with yuzen technique. Bottom is heavily padded. In the middle part of the back, there is a band, which is made of other fabrics. It has some patina and stains, but as a whole it is in very good condition. We highly recommend this wonderful susohiki! *Approx background color - HTML code ( A351B7)
