Hi, I'm a student of Japanese Embroidery in the UK. The image above is an example of my efforts. I enjoy looking at all the beautiful embroidered kimono, fukusa, and obi that are listed on Ichiroya.

since I posted here. Thought I would share a few photographs of what I have been doing in the last few months.
This is a piece of embroidery I did for our Japanese embroidry challenge on Stitchin fingers. The fabric is an obi fabric bought from Ichiroya (of course), the design is based on an inro.

This piece was created on kimono silk - another Ichiroya purchase. It doesn't show up too well in the photo but it is a lovely mottled brown colour. It was lovely to embroider onto and I am planning to use it again for some more pieces. Maybe I'll embroider on the back next time to give it a slightly different look.

This piece was created for the Living Organisms exhibition on the Hand Embroidery Network. The clouds are a traditional motif and they are filled with motifs representing the living world. In the UK we have a saying "every cloud has a silver lining" meaning even something bad can bring something good. Since this piece is composed of clouds I 'lined' each section with a coloured and silver thread giving the piece its name of Silver Linings.

Last some small plum blossoms. This used more obi fabric, guess where from? The design is taken from a book I got from the Ichiroya affiliate Art Garage Japan.
