Hi, I'm a student of Japanese Embroidery in the UK. The image above is an example of my efforts. I enjoy looking at all the beautiful embroidered kimono, fukusa, and obi that are listed on Ichiroya.

It's been a few days since I visited here, but I read with interest Melonpan's post on stitching kimono and how great it would be to be able to create one. I agree so much, it would be a wonderful acomplishment.

I also relate very much to the comment about seeing so much lovely fabric and then suddenly, oh so suddenly, it's sold. More often than it should it appears in my shopping basket, but I do have a plan. I've been experimenting with making jackets from bolts of fabric from Ichiroya so thought I'd share a couple of pictures with you.

While not as complicated as a kimono it's a lovely way to use the fabric and much easier to wear in our modern life.

Thought I'd also share this lovely bolt of fabric with you. I think it would be fabulous as an autumn outfit, I love these giant orange flowers.

I've made up two types of jacket, this style is very plain, but doesn't need anything extra added when the fower circles are such wonderful colours.

I have two or three bolts in this style, this one however has added emroidery which makes it a bit more special. Sometimes it's difficult to get the patterns to match up on the back seam, but his one has worked very well.
