Canada Yukata
This is the Canada yukata and matching hanhaba obi I've been working on for far too long. Well, I finally decided to get off my butt and finish this set off. The yukata features bold, red maple leaves on a white ground, and the obi features little maps of Canada and Canadian flags. I was hoping to wear this on Canada Day this year, but I wasn't able to fit it in my suitcase when I moved up north for work.

Time to completion:
21h 5min

Ayame-sama - Lady Iris.

I made this kimono for my best friend. It's her favourite colour with her favourite flower on it. I found this as a karinui on YJA for about $20 more than a year ago. It was just perfect for her so I snatched it up. Originally I had planned to pad the hem on this one for her, but I made a mistake with my measurements and made the lining too short. So it's just a normal furisode with no padded hem. Unfortunately I don't have an obi with iris motifs on it, but this one worked colour wise. I think a lavender obiage and obijime would probably bring out the purples in the irises a little more too.

Time to Completion:
45 hours and 10 minutes

OTHER PROJECTS - KIMONO

Taisho Susoyoke - 90% complete

I had a ruined taisho irotomesode which I decided to cut up and transform into a susoyoke. All I need to do is stitch the ties to the skirt and the susoyoke is complete. I also made some kanzashi from the scraps.

Kikuaya Pre-World War Furisode Restoration - 40% complete

I unpicked this furisode, cleaned the fabric from end to end and am currently in the process of stitching it back together. The outer body of the kimono has been completed, however, I'm still working on the lining and I still need to attach the collar as well.

Hinotori-Kisai Uchikake - is about 35% complete

I purchased this karinui from ICHIROYA last summer. The outer body of the kimono has been completed. I now need to finish and attach the lining.

Aside from these three projects, I have a number of other kimono just waiting to be sewn.

OTHER PROJECTS - KANZASHI

I have been working very hard to create a number of beautiful kanzashi recently. I will be selling kanzashi at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre on Halloween at a benefit dance for Sick Children's Hospital. I will post pictures of the kanzashi when I get the chance.
